Art! Nature! Improv acting! Juggling and more! You and your child can experience fun on our campus at day and evening camps. Boys and girls ages 7-10 will experience drawing, clay, painting and other art, in the morning Children’s Art Camp, June 14-17. Then, kids ages 10-13 can explore painting, illustration, sculpture, plus more in their morning Tweens’ Art Camp, June 21-24. Morning camps are led by Dorothy Bock, and snacks are provided. Tweens can bring a sack lunch for a supervised hour followed by our new Tweens’ Creative Fun Camp in the afternoon, June 21-24. Why not let your tween spend the whole day on our campus? Each afternoon will be filled with educational fun, like Cosmic Nature exploring and journaling on our prairie, forest and gardens with Sue Hoople, Kool Kids Campfire and Solar Cooking with Carol Valaitis, Make a Hiking Staff and more funky art with Norm Knott, plus Improv Acting with Glendia Strandin, and Juggling with Eli Karvelis!

Teens 14 and older can join adult men and women for intensive art camps in July with Dorothy Bock. Watercolor Camp meets July 5-6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Oil Painting Camp meets July 7-8 at the same time. Drawing Camp is in the evening July 5-8, and Elaine Hirschenberger joins Dorothy to lead the Clay Camp July 19-20 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Finally, an all-day Oil and Acrylic Painting Camp wraps up our summer camps July 21-22. There’s something for everyone at Womanspace, and our camps fit the creative bill for males and females ages 7 to 97!

The special public reception for the Mandalas art exhibit is this Friday, June 11, at 5:30 p.m., followed by our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner (private event-RSVP required). Gretta Anderson will teach us about Reflexology at the June 16 Lunch and Learn. Womanspace is a proud sponsor of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Expo and Luncheon June 17. Please make your reservations today with the Chamber, and don’t miss this important annual event. Also on June 17, Wisconsin northwoods poet and educator Janet Chronister presents an evening Writershop: Remembering Women Through Verse. Jan will teach us how to write a poem and share poetry from her chapbook Target Practice (2009 Parallel Press). Dr. Ruth Ora Jackson leads our Summer Solstice Celebration at 11 a.m., June 19, and guests may walk the Labyrinth.

Family Fun Night: Campfire Stories June 25 is a free event for men, women and children, and like nearly everything at Womanspace, you don’t need to be a member. Come share your favorite songs and stories around our fire circle. Bring a lawn chair, plus food or drink to share. S’mores, anyone?

In July, Junior Members and friends (ages 9 to adult) can take Crochet Lessons Wednesday nights. Norm Knott leads Build a Fairy House in our woods July 10 in preparation for our Summer Fairy Festival with Rockford Dance Company July 24. Get your tickets for this magical event now!
