Hudson car club holds regional meeting in Rockford June 10-12

Classic car enthusiasts will celebrate the Hudson car with a three-day event in the Rockford Region. The Chicago/Milwaukee Chapter of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane (HET) Club will hosts its 2010 Central Regional Meet at Cliffbreakers Riverside Resort from June 10-12. “Commodores on the River” will draw club members and their cars from throughout the Midwest, plus Texas, Pennsylvania and Canada. As many as 75 Hudson automobiles are expected. The cars will be on display at Cliffbreakers and will be viewable by the public when they are not in use. There is no charge to view the cars.
The weekend will feature driving tours of local venues including Anderson Japanese Gardens, Tinker Swiss Cottage and Historic Auto Attractions. A parade lap around the Rockford Speedway will take place at noon, Saturday. More than 20 vendors will sell Hudson-related products during the three-day event, which will conclude with a banquet on Saturday evening.
The HET Club is a group of car enthusiasts dedicated to the enjoyment and preservation of Hudson Motor Car Company vehicles produced from 1909 until 1954 and Hudson vehicles produced by American Motors Corporation from 1955 until 1957. The family-friendly organization focuses on driving and enjoying the vehicles. No judging occurs. The Chicago/Milwaukee Chapter has more than 100 members and is one of 53 chapters internationally.
RACVB works to bring organizations like the Chicago/Milwaukee HET Club to the Rockford Region to help fill hotel rooms and generate money for area businesses. This event will fill 160 hotel room nights and generate $21,000 for area restaurants, hotels and retail stores.
