From press release
Saturday, June 12, will be a busy day at NorthPointe Health and Wellness for people of all ages. It will be the site for both the third annual Kids Summer Safety Fair and the Prairie Triathlon, focusing on adults.
“Last year, we decided to host these events at the same time and make an entire day of activity,” explains Gus Larson, NorthPointe campus director.
The Kids Summer Safety Fair will be from 8 a.m. to noon and will have fun for the whole family on the grounds of NorthPointe. Activities, games, snacks and prizes all related to outdoor fun and child safety will be the focus. The Immediate Care Center reminds kids to reduce the number of serious outdoor injuries by thinking about fun in a safe way.
The Prairie Triathlon kicks off at 8 a.m. with a 350-yard swim, a 17-mile bike race and finishing with a 3-mile run.
“The event coincides with our mission to promote good health in the community,” adds Larson. “Plus, we have a seven-lane pool, as well as 122 acres of natural prairie grounds for the outdoor parts of the event.”
Individuals can enter for $50 now or on race day. A team can enter for $100 now or on race day. The first swimmer starts at 8 a.m. with 20-second intervals per swimmer afterward.
For more information, call (815) 525-4040. The field is limited for the Prairie Triathlon to the first 200 entrants.
