Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra holds auditions June 11-13

The Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra (RSYO) will hold auditions June 11-13 for its 45th concert season beginning in September.

The RSYO is the area’s premiere full-training orchestra for student musicians that provides quality, full symphony orchestra training and performance experiences that are engaging, challenging and fun.

Auditions will be at the Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St., Rockford, and are scheduled by appointment only.

Having recently completed its first season under Conductor Daniel Black, the orchestra is a finalist for The American Prize, celebrating American excellence in the arts. Composed of students from across northern Illinois who have a love of classical music and a desire to improve their skills while performing as an ensemble, the RSYO rehearses weekly and performs for the public throughout the year.

The Rockford Symphony Orchestra is the parent organization of the Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra. The RSYO will celebrate its 45th anniversary season in 2010-11. Offering high-quality music education opportunities through challenging orchestral literature, the youth orchestra also builds additional life skills, including leadership, self-discipline, self-motivation and teamwork.
