Nature photography contest opens June 15, deadline Aug. 1
From press release
LOVES PARK, Ill.—In celebration of the 40thanniversary of Earth Day, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) is coordinating a nature photography contest. Amateur photographers age 18 and older are encouraged to submit their photos of the northern Illinois environment. Photos should showcase nature, i.e. landscapes, trees, flowers and waterways; no people, animals or structures may be included as the principal subject.
Lori Gummow, executive director of Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful, said: “Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful has worked diligently for the past 22 years to make our community a cleaner, greener place to live. We are excited to be a part of this contest, and see the ‘fruit of our labor’ as people take pictures of our beautiful stateline area.”
Submission of photos will begin June 15, which is Nature Photography Day. The deadline for submission is Aug. 1. Individuals may submit as many photos as they like with the fee structure being $15 for one, $25 for two and $35 for three. Each entry after three will be $10 each.
Official entry forms and contest rules are available at Camera Craft, 1643 N. Alpine Road, or online at KNIB’s Web site. The prizes for the contest include Camera Craft gift certificates, photographic prints on canvas, a camera bag and magazine subscriptions.
Camera Craft and Canon are offering single-session classes about nature photography and composition. The classes will be at Camera Craft from 7 to 9 p.m., May 12 and June 17. Cost is $15 per class and attendance is not required to submit an entry.
“We are pleased to have Camera Craft and Canon working with us on this project, as each is well known in the photography community,” Gummow added.
