Retired Teachers Association holds membership meeting June 17

Winnebago County Retired Teachers Association (WCRTA) announces its membership meeting at noon, Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden, 2715 S. Main St., Rockford.

The membership meeting will follow lunch provided by Toni’s of Winnebago. Reservations were submitted by the Friday prior to the meeting.

These winners of scholarship and grants will be presented at the meting:

- Blanche Martin Scholarship to Rebecca Meyer, Rockton, Ill., studying education at Illinois State University

WCRTA will present two grant winners:

1. Nicholas Haab, Roscoe, Ill., studying education at University of Illinois

2. Nina Marie Giannangeli, Rockford, Ill., studying education at Elmhurst College

The WCRTA members are pleased to “give back” to the community through the generosity of retired educator Blanche J. Martin’s established scholarship fund and its local WCRTA chapter grants for the benefit of aspiring future teachers. Congratulations to this year’s winners.

A presentation about Klehm and self-guided tour of Klehm is available following lunch and membership meeting. Golf Cart/Blossom Buddy is available for those wishing to ride along the path.
