Burglary on Fitch Road, man found shot
From press release
At 10:10 p.m., June 21, Rockford Police officers were sent to 421 Fitch Road regarding a possible burglary in progress where a subject was shot. On arrival, officers spoke with the residents, Nicholas Pirrello, 22, and Catherine E. Giacone, 23, inside the residence.
Officers also located a male who was found shot outside a rear door of this residence. This male was later identified as Stanley B. Oden, 27, and pronounced dead at the scene by Rockford Fire Department.
It was determined that Oden and an unknown black male were trying to force the rear door of the residence open when the residents inside were alerted. Nicholas Pirrello went to the rear door with a firearm and shot through the door, striking Oden in the chest. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed late Tuesday. The unknown black male fled westbound on foot.
Several firearms were recovered from the scene, along with narcotics that were found inside the residence.
Rockford Police detectives are conducting a homicide investigation, and at this time the Winnebago County state’s attorney has authorized the following charges for: Nicholas Pirrello—armed violence, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver; Catherine E. Giacone—possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
This is an ongoing investigation with no available photos available at this time. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
