Wind Ridge Herb Farm celebrates 10 years in business, annual Herb Faire this weekend

The public is welcome to help celebrate a local herb farmer’s first decade in business this weekend. Wind Ridge Herb Farm began offering culinary and medicinal herbs 10 years ago at its Caledonia farm. The celebration to mark the milestone will be Saturday, June 26, as part of its Fourth Annual Herb Faire.
The event will showcase more than 20 vendors. Vendors will offer an array of goods such as jewelry, produce, holistic services and garden-related products.
“We want to promote local businesses and healthy lifestyles with the use of herbs,” Liz Fiorenza of Wind Ridge Herb Farm said.
The fair will also showcase live music from some of the area’s most popular acts. Harlan Jefferson, Guy Fiorenza and Mike Alongi, Andy Spitson, Lilian and Olivia Dvorak and Kelsey Wilde will perform throughout the day.
A beer and wine garden, food by Nikki’s Café, live cooking demonstrations and a petting zoo will also be part of the festivities.
The rain-or-shine event runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $2. A portion of the fair’s proceeds will go to benefit PAWS Humane Society, which will take part in the event.
Wind Ridge Herb Farm, at 466 Quail Trap Road, Caledonia, features sprawling gardens with more than 400 varieties of herbs. A true natural grower, the farm uses only organic soil and GMO-free seeds. Its greenhouse is stocked with organic products, including some perennials, berry bushes and vegetables.
Wind Ridge is also home to ongoing special events throughout the season. This year, “Dinners in the Garden” (June 23, July 3 and 21, Aug. 13 and 25, and Sept. 25) feature a variety of organic selections and interactive presentations from some of the Rock River Valley’s finest chefs. Each dinner features menu items made with locally-grown products.
Wind Ridge’s gift shop carries a full line of organic soaps and bath products, ointments, packaged herbs and seasonings, salves, herbal teas, and antiques.
“We carry only natural products with no artificial dyes, preservatives or additives,” Fiorenza said. “We personally harvest, inspect, dry and package the herbs in order to guarantee quality and freshness.”
The farm is also open for meetings, tours and catered lunches. The meeting facility can accommodate up to 70 guests.
