U of I Extension to host Market Garden Field Day July 8

University of Illinois Extension—Winnebago County will host a Market Garden Field Day from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 8. Participants will tour two neighboring farmers’ market gardens on Tipple Road in Rockford, and meet the growers, Bob Deschepper and Greg Sparks.

In addition to viewing an array of organic and heirloom vegetables, participants will have the opportunity to learn about soil, production, pest control techniques, and the business of a market garden.

A light supper featuring freshly-harvested produce from the farms will be served at the end of the event.
