‘An Evening Among the Gardens’ July 25 at Belvidere nature center

BELVIDERE, Ill.—The Boone County Conservation District (BCCDP) will hold “An Evening Among the Gardens” from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 25. The event will be at the Roger D. Gustafson Nature Center, 603 N. Appleton Road, Belvidere.
Stroll through the grounds and explore eight different gardens. The gardens include The Boone County Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, The Garden Club of Boone County Butterfly Garden, the BCCD Rain Garden and the BCCD Cultural Heritage Gardens, which represent five cultural groups who settled in Boone County in the early 1800s: Potawatomi, Germans, Scots, Norwegians and Yankees.
Interpreters in period attire will be on hand to discuss gardening practices of the 1800s and answer questions about the heirloom vegetables grown in the gardens.
The event is free, and refreshments will be served.
