Pecatonica ‘Cars-on-Main’ Sixth Annual Car Show July 24

Pecatonica’s  Sixth Annual‘Cars-on-Main’ car show will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 24, rain or shine. See a wide variety of cars from street rods, custom builts, vintage and late model cars. This year’s show will include a vintage 1970 Dragster (the first rear- mounted, twin engine Dragster in the nation), which Dom Paris continues to delight drag racing fans with around the country.

Pre-registration for the 2010 show indicates another strong turnout. Exhibitors may register at the gate for a $15 fee, which will entitle them to a $5 food coupon. The first 100 receive dash plaques. There will also be $1,000 in cash awards, door prizes and more than 50 exhibitor awards.

The event, presented by the Pecatonica Improvement Association, has grown each year, with last year’s show drawing 220 vehicles lining several blocks of Pecatonica’s Main Street. This turnout included entries from five states and represented an increase of 30 percent over the previous year.

Admission is free to spectators. Along with the show, visitors will enjoy music and commentary by 3-D Sound, free horse-drawn wagon rides and Stateline Divas Roller Derby team, returning this year in full uniform to sell raffle tickets and give a demonstration of their sport.

Pecataonica’s Main Street is a classic example of a small Midwestern town. Visitors can enjoy a variety of shops along with several eating places and “watering holes.”
