Two teens arrested in relation to July 20 MacGyver bombing at Woodman’s

July 21, detectives from the Rockford Police Department arrested Dakota J. Hantke, 18, of Rockford, and Shane J. Balson, 18, of Caledonia, in relation to the MacGyver bomb incident at Woodman’s at 12:10 a.m., July 20. The case facts were reviewed with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, which authorized warrants for possession of an explosive device, reckless conduct and criminal damage to property. Bond is set at $250,000.

Police are continuing to investigate other recent MacGyver bombing incidents.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
