Emily Hurd at Sinnissippi Aug. 5, Kryptonite Aug. 14
From press release
Songstress and Rockford native Emily Hurd offers two live performances in the coming weeks.
At 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 5, Hurd will perform a free show at the Sinnissippi Park Band Shell, 1401 N. Second St. She will unveil a number of new songs at the show.
At 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, Hurd will play a show with Kelly Steward and Grammy-nominated Sophie B. Hawkins at Kryptonite, 308 W. State St., Rockford. Cost for that show is $15.
As described on her website, emilyhurd.com: “Backed by a band, Hurd blasts through her tunes with Joplinesque soul. She has shared the stage with Bettye Lavette, Ozomatli and Irma Thomas, to name a few. On her own, she candidly roots her audience into her storytelling and storyselling, and has opened as a solo act for the likes of Roger McGuinn and Geoff Muldaur. Hurd plays live with piano, ukulele and also harmonica.”
Hurd recently released her sixth record of original music, Daytime Fireflies. Her past discography includes: A Cache In The Warehouse Floor, 2008; Love In Flats, 2007; Barefoot Session, 2006; Potent One, 2006; and Lines, 2005.
