Summer Reading Club’s Finishers’ Party at Magic Waters Aug. 6

From press release

The Rockford Public Library 2010 Summer Reading Club, “Scare Up a Good Book,” culminates with a Finishers’ Party from 5 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 6, at Magic Waters Waterpark.

All children and young adults who met their reading goal over the summer were given a ticket to the party, and additional tickets for family and friends will be available at the door for $8.

Finishers were also invited to use their ticket on any open park day from Aug. 7 through Sept. 6. Up to two additional tickets for family and friends accompanying the Summer Reading Club finisher can be purchased on these dates for a discounted rate of $12.

The Summer Reading Club is Rockford Public Library’s largest program of the year. While the club was initially created to encourage children to maintain their reading skills over the summer, the club now offers levels for children, young adults and adults. Participants this year totaled 11,874, with 42 percent meeting their summer goal, a 12 percent increase over last year.
