Rockford Dance Company has scholarships for beginning ballet class for Hispanic children between the ages of 6 and 12. Thirty-one classes will be held within the regular school programming starting Sept. 10 and will run through May 13. Participants will perform in the school performance on May 14. Rockford Dance Company will accept 40 children into this program. Applications and program requirements are available in the RDC office at Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St., or on the website, rockforddancecompany.com ^[1] on the school page. Applications need to be returned to RDC’s office by 5 p.m., Aug. 12, or have a postmark no later than Aug. 12.

Rockford Dance Company and SupplyCore, Inc. are sponsoring this program to introduce children to the benefits of ballet. Ballet is a well-structured dance form that includes discipline, self-awareness and the building of self-esteem through individual accomplishment. This free program is set up to serve those who are financially disadvantaged.

Rockford Dance Company

Established in 1973, the Rockford Dance Company (RDC) is a nonprofit organization committed to excellence in its mission to promote the art of dance through quality performance, education and outreach programming for 36 years.

RDC is a pre-professional dance company and one of our resident performing organizations of the historic Coronado Theater. RDC produces The Nutcracker with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra annually and also produces a full-length ballet each spring. RDC is a past recipient of the Mayor’s Arts Award for its recent production of The Sleeping Beauty. Established in 1981, the School of the Rockford Dance Company serves more than 600 students each year and provides a variety of dance classes year round to students ages 3 to senior citizen. In addition, DanceReach, the performing company of the school, performs throughout the year for community events. RDC’s newly-renovated offices and five studios are located in the Riverfront Museum Park.
