Women’s baseball teams to play at Beyer Stadium—former home of the Peaches—Aug. 18

From press release

Rockford Park District will host a women’s baseball game at Beyer Stadium, 333 15th Ave., Rockford, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 18. The public is invited to attend the game free of charge at the historic stadium, formerly home of the All American Girls’ Professional Baseball League’s Rockford Peaches.

Wednesday’s game will have an international flavor as a team from the Rockford Park District’s Women’s League hosts a traveling team from Australia for the pick-up style recreational game, which will be hardball, pitched overhand.

The event came about after the Australian team’s manager attended the re-dedication of Rockford’s Beyer Stadium in June, and felt the facility would be a great place for his team to play while on the United States portion of their tour this summer; the team was scheduled to play at another All American Girls’ Stadium in Kenosha, Wis., the week of Aug. 9, and in Toronto, Canada, during the weekend of Aug. 14.
