From press release

SYCAMORE, Ill.—DeKalb County RAMP is partnering with Culver’s in Sycamore, Ill., for DeKalb County RAMP’s 10th Annual Wheel-A-Thon Kick-Off, Wednesday, Aug. 18. Make a purchase at the Sycamore Culver’s location, 1200 DeKalb Ave., between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., Aug. 18, and 10 percent of those proceeds will benefit RAMP services for people with disabilities in DeKalb County.

The Wheel-A-Thon is a disability awareness event that works much like a typical walk-a-thon in terms of participants, known as “wheelers,” raise pledges and complete a 2-mile course using a wheelchair through DeKalb. The 10th annual DeKalb County Wheel-A-Thon will roll in Saturday, Sept. 18, to raise awareness and funds for RAMP’s services that empower people with disabilities in DeKalb County. The Wheel-A-Thon will begin at the RAMP office, 115 N. First St., in DeKalb.

Registration begins at 10 a.m.—register your team online today at dekalbcountywheelathon.kintera.org.

Some of the teams participating include: Target, NIU and DeKalb County Housing Authority, to name a few. All participants who raise a minimum of $50 will receive an event T-shirt—raise additional funds and earn incentives from area businesses.

Proceeds from the Wheel-A-Thon benefit RAMP’s DeKalb County Services provided out of the DeKalb office. RAMP, a non-profit, empowers people with disabilities to realize there are no limits to what they can do. RAMP accomplishes this by assisting them to live independently, make changes in their own lives, seek peer support, obtain resources and remove barriers that threaten their dreams of independence. RAMP is a resource to which you may refer people with disabilities and expect results. RAMP is a dynamic role model of how to include people with disabilities in a sustainable, successful and productive workplace; and an advocate partnering proactively with the community to ensure full inclusion of people with disabilities.

Look for RAMP Wheelies at participating locations. Donate $1 and receive coupons with $7 in savings.
