Band from Swedish sister city performs in Rockford Aug. 19-25

A brass band from Rockford’s sister city, Borgholm, Sweden, will visit Rockford Aug. 19-25.

The band, named Bara Mässingen, will perform at several locations around the region. They play music from Sweden, as well as some American favorites.

Bara Mässingen performs at such high-profile Swedish events as the birthday reception for Crown Princess Victoria and the opening of the summer exhibition at the royal summer castle Solliden.

The band will perform at the following locations in Rockford:

Rockford City Market—Corner of State and Water streets (upper parking deck), 4:30-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 20.

Zion Lutheran Church—925 Fifth Ave., Rockford, 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services, Sunday, Aug. 22.

Annual Kraftskiva (Crayfish) Party—Erlander Home Museum, 404 S. Third St., Rockford, 4-6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22. Admission: $7 members/$8.50 non-members.

Oland’s Club Meeting—Stockholm Inn , 2420 Charles St., Rockford, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 24.
