Forest City Queen riverboat resumes operations on Rock River

From press release

Rockford Park District’s Forest City Queen riverboat has resumed operations following the lifting of boating restrictions on the Rock River.

The 45-minute narrated excursion rides provide passengers with fascinating information about Rockford’s history, with a glimpse of some of the most stately homes located along the Rock River.

The cruises are one of the many low-fee activities the Park District offers the community, and hourly ride tickets can be purchased at the Trolley Station at the south end of Riverview Park, 324 N. Madison St., Rockford.

In addition to hourly narration cruises on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, a variety of specialty cruise and dining package options are also available, including: Wednesday Family Fun Nights through Sept. 29, Friday Grab ’N’ Go Lunch Cruises and Friday Night Fish Fry Cruises through Sept. 24 (except Sept. 3), Saturday Evening Sunset Dinner Cruises Aug. 28 and Sept. 18, and the last Saturday Evening River District Association Tour Sept. 11. Private rentals are also available.

Reservations are required by calling (815) 987-1685 at least three days prior to specialty and meal cruise dates; no reservations are needed for Grab ’N’ Go cruises.

The Forest City Queen is wheelchair accessible (maximum two wheelchairs per ride). For information about ride schedules and fees, as well as specialty cruises, visit rockfordparkdistrict.org/fcqtrolley; or pick up a brochure available at Park District facilities and Customer Service locations.

Hourly ride information is also available at (815) 987-8894.
