Open auditions for haunted houses Sept. 9, 11-12

For one month of pure terror, scare the living daylights out of people as the most gruesome, horrible and disgusting creatures at the 2010 Screamatorium and Fear Asylum Haunted House, opening Oct. 1.

All actors chosen for the 2010 “Scream Team” will learn what it takes to develop a character that scares, how to scream at the top of your lungs without blowing out your vocal cords and how to create gruesome, gory special effects makeup.

While you’re making everyone scream until their throat bleeds, you’ll be gaining some great performance experience at northern Illinois’ most terrifying haunted event. Auditions are open to anyone 16 or older. Auditions are approximately 30 to 45 minutes, and you only need to attend one of the following dates for open auditions:

Thursday, Sept. 9, 4-7 p.m.—Auburn High School (Media Lab), 5110 Auburn St., Rockford

Saturday, Sept. 11, noon-6 p.m.—Screamatorium Haunted House, 6512 Manchester Road, South Beloit, Ill.

Sunday, Sept. 12, noon-6 p.m.—Fear Asylum Haunted House, Belvidere Park District, 1006 W. Lincoln Ave. (Baltic Mill Conference Room), Belvidere, Ill.
