Health Department discontinues Maternal Child Health Services in South Beloit Sept. 24

The Winnebago County Health Department has announced the cessation of Maternal Child Health Services currently offered at Sandcastle Community Center in South Beloit, Ill. The Health Department services at Sandcastle will discontinue as of Sept. 24. The City of South Beloit has provided space for Maternal Child Health Services for approximately 13 years.
The Maternal Child Health Services offered by the Winnebago County Health Department at Sandcastle include: WIC, family case management, pediatric well-child and immunizations. “For many years, the Health Department has served as many as 400-500 clients each month at this location; however, with current financial challenges, the Winnebago County Health Department, as virtually all other public sector organizations with reduced staffing, is unable to continue serving clients at that location for the time being,” said Winnebago County Health Department Administrator Mike Bacon.
Clients who are currently registered at the Sandcastle location will now have their appointments at the Winnebago County Health Department, 401 Division St., Rockford, IL 61104. The Winnebago County Health Department has sent each Sandcastle client a personal letter explaining this transition.
The Winnebago County Health Department also surveyed the current client base at Sandcastle as to their ability to access these same services through the Rockford location, and almost all have indicated that they will continue at the Division Street location.
The Department would like to thank the City of South Beloit for being such a long-standing partner in the effort to deliver maternal child services for residents in the South Beloit area.
