Blackhawk Group Sierra Club presents program on ‘Cool Cities’
From press release
Lonnie Morris, Cool Cities program chairman of the Illinois Sierra Club, will present a program at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25, in the JustGoods Meeting Room, 201 Seventh St., Rockford (enter from west side of building). The program is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Blackhawk Group of the Illinois Sierra Club.
As Illinois chairman of the Cool Cities program, Morris has helped more than 50 cities in the state commit to reducing their contribution to global warming by signing on to the Mayors’ Agreement on Climate Protection. Rockford, Ill., is one of those cities.
Morris is also chairman of the River Prairie Group and has been involved in restoring land back to its prairie roots in Lombard. She quickly accepted a leadership role with the Sierra Club after reaching out to the River Prairie Group to be involved with a community-wide event, Lombard’s Prairie Days.
Lonnie Morris will have an update on Cool Cities for the October program. For more information, please call Rich Muniz, Blackhawk Sierra Club representative to the Green Cities Coalition, at (815) 222-8572.
