Junior League of Rockford partners with RPL for Kids in the Kitchen
From press release
The Junior League of Rockford, Inc., and the Rockford Public Library (RPL) have partnered together to present Kids in the Kitchen from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Rockford Public Library’s East Branch, 6685 E. State St. (formerly Barnes & Noble). This free event is open to the entire community, and families with children age 10 and younger are encouraged to attend.
Kids in the Kitchen will provide helpful information and fun activities to educate families and children about healthy eating and fitness habits. Learn how to prepare healthy snacks for your family, enjoy some interactive fitness activities, and have lots of fun! New eating and fitness activities will be highlighted this year, including fabulous fun with funky foods and zumba for kids!
The goal of the Kids in the Kitchen initiative, which is supported by The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc., and its member leagues, is to empower kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and to help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues. The program was launched in 2006 by Junior Leagues in more than 225 communities. Junior League of Rockford has been presenting Kids in the Kitchen for the past several years.
This Kids in the Kitchen event is sponsored in part by the Lello Family Four Foundation and is also a part of the Rockford Public Library and Rockford Public Library Foundation’s Rick Bayless fund-raiser events. Free giveaways will be provided at Kids in the Kitchen while supplies last.
