Park District Board receives Conservatory campaign update

At the Oct. 25 Park Board meeting, Nicholas Conservatory Steering Committee co-chairs Kent Mallquist and Webbs Norman presented an update to the board on the launch of the next fund-raising campaign for the facility currently under construction at 1354 N. Second St., Rockford.

The goal for the campaign is to raise an additional $3.2 million for future development, including but not limited to the completion of the facility’s outdoor gardens, walkways, sculptures, waterfalls, a lagoon deck and walk with plantings and additional exterior amenities.

The steering committee reconvened in June of this year and has been meeting monthly to work on:

• Marketing materials and developing additional naming opportunities

• Developing campaign strategy and goals

• Finalizing campaign strategy to raise the additional funds

• Goal to raise an additional $3.2 million

• Seeking volunteers to help with the campaign
