Best-selling author, renowned national speaker and gifted storyteller Angela Thomas will be in Rockford to speak about her new book, Do You Know Who I Am?, released last month. Thomas will be at the MetroCentre arena from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6.

With each chapter, Thomas asks a “gut-wrenching” honest question that reveals deeply personal needs, flaws and pain. And each time, God answers by showing her who He is and His characteristics that cover every one of her insecurities. Through humor, personal stories and keen biblical insight, Thomas helps women better understand themselves and gives them the strength and courage to continue their individual journeys.

Thomas is the best-selling author of numerous books including Do You Think I Am Beautiful? and My Single Mom Life. She transparently shares life experiences that draw her and others into a deeper passion for knowing God. Living in Greensboro, N.C., Thomas is also a wife and mother.

Do You Know Who I Am? from Howard Books will take readers, feeling discouraged and stagnant, on the journey of a lifetime.

Angela Thomas agreed to talk to The Rock River Times (TRRT) in an exclusive interview, which follows.

TRRT: What was your inspiration for writing the book?

Angela Thomas (AT): The inspiration was to be honest with God, to ask Him the questions about me that I try to keep hidden from everyone else. Do you know that I feel invisible and lonely? Sometimes I am undisciplined. Do you know that I’m trembling inside?

TRRT: Which one was the most difficult chapter to write?

AT: Just as I received some news from my doctor that I could have cancer. That was real-in-the-moment writing from my insecurity and fear. That was a hard one.

TRRT: Did anyone at your church or a particular spiritual counselor help you in planning the book, or did they contribute to it in some way?

AT: No. I’m a seminary graduate. I spent all of my time in ministry and traveling to speak to women. A lot of my input came from my own thoughts and the women I met in conferences [sharing] their own struggles.

TRRT: How can people obtain the book?

AT: The major retailers have the book—amazon.com, Barnes & Noble.

The book will also be available at the MetroCentre event, where the author can sign it for you.
