Find Your Space: 35th anniversary Nov. 12, Holiday Art Sale Nov. 19
By Gale Ketteler
Womanspace Program Coordinator & Marketing Specialist
Womanspace is Celebrating 35 Years of Transformation this Friday night, Nov. 12! Elaine Hirschenberger and Dorothy Bock founded this wonderful non-profit organization in 1975, the International Year of the Woman, and we’re honoring all our foremothers, living and passed, at this special event. Even a few men are honorary members of this group. We will also savor the present, plus look to a bright future with our Junior Members as we pass the light to them. To join us Friday night at the YMCA Log Lodge, please RSVP at (815) 877-0118 or email@example.com by Nov. 11.
The holidays are fast approaching, and Nov. 19 is the special opening reception for our annual Holiday Art & Craft Sale from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Come discover great original gifts for holiday giving, or for yourself. Men are guaranteed to find something perfect for the women in their lives, and it’s all created by our members and friends. There will be festive fun for all ages, treats, plus entertainment by Womansong Chorale at 7 p.m. In addition to our regular Gallery2Go hours Monday-Thursday, the Holiday Sale is open Saturdays, Nov. 20 and Dec. 11. Please contact us for sale hours through Dec. 15.
Today (Wednesday, Nov. 10) at Womanspace, Bookwoman discusses The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at 9:30 a.m., and EarthMatters discussion group meets at noon. Dorothy Bock offers an art lecture Nov. 11 about the notorious Jackson Pollock, and Nov. 14 is the ongoing Queen of Heaven group examining the divine feminine.
Girls age 9-13 can join our Junior Members for a fun and fantastic chance to explore self image through art Nov. 16 at Express Your Self with Eileen McCarten. Professor Kanwal Prashar shares his vast knowledge of world religions Nov. 17 with a Lunch and Learn about Jainism.
Meditation for Beginners is a special video program with Jack Kornfield Nov. 18, led by Dorothy Bock. She then teaches an Oil Painting Artshop Nov. 20, and shares Invictus at the monthly Supper and Film Nov. 22.
Make a Holiday Card Dec. 1 at a Lunch and Learn, and then buy a gift to go with it at our Barnes and Noble Bookfair Dec. 4—all day at CherryVale Mall. We’ll have special art and literature presentations, author book signings, and a signature drink in the café! A percentage of your purchases will benefit Womanspace, so save up all your book, CD and DVD purchases for that day. Just be sure to mention “Womanspace” at checkout, or print the voucher on our website to hand them. You may also make online purchases Dec. 4-9 and indicate “Womanspace” to help us out. Thanks in advance!
