Puttin’ On the Glitz Nov. 12 for SwedishAmerican
From press release
SwedishAmerican Health System’s annual Puttin’ On the Glitz fashion show/luncheon will be Friday, Nov. 12, at Giovanni’s Restaurant and Convention Center. A social hour with music by Evon Sams and Carl Cole will precede the luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Evon is a senior at Auburn High School in the CAPA program, and Carl Cole is a well-known local musician.
The event is a fund-raiser for The Regional Cancer Center at SwedishAmerican. Proceeds from the event go toward supporting the needs of cancer patients and their families. In past years, the money has been used for gift baskets for all newly-diagnosed cancer patients, patient and family education materials, and the remodeling of the inpatient family lounge including new furniture, televisions, pictures, laptops and DVD players.
Holiday fashions from That Boutique at Edgebrook Center and Sturtevant’s at Highcrest Center will be modeled by local celebrities, hospital professionals and individuals whose lives have been touched by cancer.
This year’s models include Dr. Bill Gorski, president and CEO, and Rich Walsh, COO for SwedishAmerican; WTVO news anchors Steve Stadleman and Mimi Murphy; WQRF news anchor Kimberly Nelson; WREX news anchors and reporters Eric Wilson, Elizabeth Fay and Katie Nilsson; WIFR news anchors and reporter Mike Garrigan, Tina Stein and Whitney Martin; Rockford Register Star reporters Georgette Braun and Kevin Haas; and Register-Star Go Editor Rebecca Rose; former WTVO anchor Nicole Kilmer; former WIFR anchor Nichole Vrsansky; Park District Manager of the new Nicholas Conservatory Ruth Miller; and Rebecca Kopf, president of PR ETC. Other models include Sue Gorski, Kristin Hagenlocher, Dorinne Guinane, Kathi Gehrke, Dorice Royce and Erich Hagenlocher. In addition, there will be two surprise models who will delight the audience. The emcees for this year’s event are Sean Henry from B103 and Dani Maxwell from WREX-TV.
In honor of Veterans Day and honoring our troops, WTVO anchor Mimi Murphy will lead everyone in singing “God Bless America.”
A silent auction will be held during the luncheon with a variety of gift baskets being offered. The annual raffle for a cross-stitch angel will also be held. Each year, Marsha Stolberg, a former SwedishAmerican employee, donates an angel for the raffle.
During the luncheon, the annual Betty Henry Award will be presented to an individual who has made extraordinary efforts in support of the Regional Cancer Center at SwedishAmerican.
Tickets for Puttin’ On the Glitz are $30, with tables of 10 for $300. For more information, contact the Public Relations office at SwedishAmerican at (815) 489-4340.
