Heritage Credit Union awards more than $7,000 to local agencies

The Richard J. McGrath Endowment Fund helps support local social organizations. This year, more than $7,000 was awarded to 16 social organizations in the Heritage Credit Union (HCU) market areas. Award recipients in Rockford included Rockford Meld, Carpenter’s Place, Remedies Renewing Lives, Inc., The Salvation Army, and Children’s Home & Aid, MotherHouse Crisis Nursery.
In January 2007, Heritage Credit Union founded the Richard J. McGrath Endowment Fund. This fund was named after one of HCU’s current board members, Dick McGrath, who has dedicated more than 25 years of volunteer service to HCU. Social organizations that wish to be considered for an award must complete a short application that can be downloaded from heritagecu.org or picked up at a local Heritage Credit Union branch. The application deadline is Sept. 15 of each year, and awards are granted in November.
Heritage Credit Union, a 76-year-old federally-insured credit union with $170 million in assets, was established in Madison, Wis., in 1934 to serve the employees of Oscar Mayer & Company. The non-profit, member-owned financial institution has Wisconsin branches in Madison, Sauk City, Prairie du Sac, Chetek and Ladysmith, and Illinois branches in Rockford and Galesburg.
