PECATONICA, Ill.—Illinois State Police District 16 Commander, Lieutenant Martin Zamudio, recently announced a summary of October enforcement activity. During the month of October, Illinois State Police (ISP) District 16 Troopers handled 2,687 incidents. These incidents included 1,400 calls and requests for service reported by telephone, other public safety agencies, and walk-in requests. The remaining 1,287 incidents were initiated in the field by troopers on patrol.

During the month of October, troopers issued 386 citations and 222 warnings for speeding, made 15 arrests for driving under the influence, and 14 arrests for other alcohol-related offenses.

Troopers issued 161 safety belt citations. All other violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code observed by ISP District 16 Troopers resulted in 230 citations and 363 warnings being issued.

ISP District 16 Troopers also made 19 criminal arrests, investigated 40 traffic crashes and assisted 127 motorists. Seven traffic crash fatalities were reported in ISP District 16 for the month of October.

Troopers inspected 93 commercial vehicles for compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the month of October. Of the commercial vehicles inspected, 19 were placed out of services for driver or vehicle violations.

Illinois State Police District 16 serves Boone, Winnebago, Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties.

Taylor, 30, of Machesney Park, Ill.; Savo Gligorevic, 39, of Loves Park, Ill.; Michael A. Swanson, 40, of Machesney Park, Ill.; Daniel W. Childers, 30, of Monroe Center, Ill.; Angel S. Mackey, 31, of Rockford; Daniel A. Peraza, 23, of Rockford; and Ronnisia S. Reed, 30, of Chicago.

Arrested in Stephenson County—Arron Q. Long, 29, of Chicago.

Zamudio reminded the public that troopers work diligently to remove impaired drivers from Illinois roads. All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until the government is able to prove its charges in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
