From press release

“Flying Solo: The Remarkable Bessica Raiche,” a one-woman show by Jessica McDonald, will be performed at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Rockford College Fisher Memorial Chapel.

The show, which is free and open to the public, is an original play written by McDonald, who is director of special events at Midway Village. It features local actress Lydia Berger portraying Rockford native Bessica Medlar Raiche, who became the first woman in the U.S. to fly an airplane solo in September 1910. The show also chronicles stories of other American woman pioneer pilots who flew many years before Amelia Earhart.

While the show is free, tickets are requested and may be secured at the Rockford College  box office in the Clark Arts Center on campus. For more information, call (815) 226-4100.
