Three arrested in Freeport on drug charges, two arrested in Green County, Wis., after major marijuana bust

The State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT), in conjunction with the Freeport Police Department, executed four simultaneous search warrants in Freeport, Ill., Dec. 8 as part of an ongoing cocaine conspiracy investigation.

Agents executed search warrants at 829 Arcade Ave., 628 Benton Ave., 710 Mosely St. and 430 Nursery Ave. Seized as a result of the searches was 4.1 grams of crack cocaine, 33 grams of cannabis, scales, drug paraphernalia and approximately $5,000.

William Fane, 51, 829 Arcade Ave., Freeport Ave., was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, class A misdemeanor.

Demetrius N. Price, 23, 710 Mosely St., Freeport, Ill., was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, class 4 felony, and possession of cannabis, class C misdemeanor.

Jordae I. Cropsey, 19, 710 Mosely St., Freeport, Ill., was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, class C misdemeanor.

Price was incarcerated at the Stephenson County Jail; Fane and Cropsey posted bond and were released.

The case is ongoing, and more arrests are anticipated.

These charges are only an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The State Line Area Narcotics Team is composed of officers from the Freeport, Loves Park, Rockford and Monroe, Wis., police departments, the Stephenson County and Green County, Wis., sheriff’s departments and the Illinois State Police.

Two arrested after indoor marijuana grow investigation in Green County, Wis.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, agents from the StateLine Area Narcotics Team (SLANT), along with members of the Green County Sheriff’s Department Special Response Team, executed a search warrant at W8507 Meadow Brook Road in Adams Township, located approximately 4 miles east of Argyle in Green County.

Seized during the search were 206 growing marijuana plants from grow rooms located in the basement of the home and an exterior steel building, high-intensity grow lights, exhaust fans and other grow-related equipment, 8,359 grams of processed marijuana, scales and packaging materials, six long guns and one hand gun. One pickup truck, two sports utility vehicles, one generator, one utility tractor, three motorcycles and one ATV utility vehicle were seized pending forfeiture proceedings.

Blake L. Schneider, 56 the owner and occupant of the property, was arrested for manufacture of THC and possession with intent to deliver THC. A female resident of the home, Jean C. Anderson, 60, was arrested on the same charges. Both Schneider and Anderson are incarcerated in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

The investigation resulted from a tip received through Green County Crime Stoppers. Each marijuana plant averages 1 pound of yield, valued at $1,000 a pound. The estimated value of the marijuana plants is $206,000 while the estimated value of the processed marijuana is approximately $18,500.
