Two Rockford residents arrested on drug charges; 489 cannabis plants seized

Dec. 10, the State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT), in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Illinois State Police Investigations, arrested two Rockford residents on a variety of charges.
Illinois State Police investigators went to 2112 Bell Ave., in Rockford, to arrest Brian E. Harris, 45, of the same address, on an arrest warrant for telephone harassment/threat to kill a Department of Children and Family Services worker and harassment of a child representative/witness.
While at the residence, agents smelled the odor of cannabis. A search warrant was executed by SLANT and Drug Enforcement Administration agents.
Seized as a result of the search was 489 cannabis plants and equipment used in an indoor cannabis growing operation, 257 grams of cannabis, two handguns, one shotgun, three brass knuckles, one switchblade knife, 67 throwing stars and one taser.
Harris was arrested on the warrant and was also charged with unlawful production of cannabis sativa plants, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful use of weapons and possession of a firearm without a FOID card.
Also arrested was Harris’ girlfriend, Angela J. Snyder, 38, of the same address. Snyder was charged with unlawful production of cannabis sativa plants, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful use of weapons and possession of a firearm without a FOID card.
Harris and Snyder were incarcerated at the Winnebago County Jail.
These charges are only an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The State Line Area Narcotics Team is composed of officers from the Freeport, Loves Park, Rockford and Monroe, Wis., police departments, the Stephenson County and Green County, Wis., sheriff’s departments and the Illinois State Police.
