Bruscato appointed to state attorneys board

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced that on Dec. 8, 2010, he was appointed to Board of Governors for Office of Illinois State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor. State’s Attorney Bruscato fills the member-at-large position vacated by State’s Attorney John Barsanti of Kane County, who was appointed circuit judge.
The Board of Governors is comprised of state’s attorneys from across Illinois. It is a 10-member board with each member serving a one-year term. The Cook County State’s Attorney serves by statute, eight members are elected, two from each appellate district outside Cook County, and one member is appointed at large by the other nine members.
In addition to now serving on the Board of Governors of the Office of the Illinois State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor, State’s Attorney Bruscato is a member at large for Illinois State’s Attorney Association, and currently serves on the Legislative Committee of that organization.
State’s Attorney Bruscato said, “I am looking forward to the opportunity. The Office of the Illinois State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor serves an important role in our justice system. The impact will be positive for the citizens of Winnebago County.”
