From press release

The Rockford Area Music Industry (RAMI) Musicians’ Organization held their first Christmas Party last Thursday, Dec. 9, at Big Al’s at Giovanni’s. The event was sponsored by RAMI, LaMonica Beverage, The Rock River Times and Giovanni’s. Music was provided by alternative folk rock country artist Kelly Steward, and free beverages and appetizers were provided.

Dan Eisman, RAMI chairman, said: “It was great to see so many representatives from the music scene come out and join the RAMI Musicians’ Organization and spend time with fellow musicians. The changes made this year by the Nominations and Voting Committee will allow the musicians, technicians, booking agents and venue operators the ability to come together and show the people of this community the strong music scene Rockford has and will continue to grow in the future.”

The Christmas Party will become an annual event.

The Nominations and Voting Committee members—Eisman, Bruce Hammond, Gordy Butt, Joe Licari, Chip Messiner, Justin Milnes and Greg Johnson—released the new rules and regulations several weeks ago, and they are available on the RAMI’s website, ramiawards.com.

The nominations are open until Dec. 31, and the general public can nominate. The voting in all music categories will be completed by the members of the RAMI Musicians’ Organization. The Recording Nominations deadline is Jan. 31, 2011. Nominations can be made online at ramiawards.com or mailed to RAMI, P.O. Box 4128, Rockford, IL 61110.

Musicians, technicians, booking agents and venue operators can join on the RAMI’s website, or by sending a check or money order to the RAMI’s mailing address.

Nominations are also being accepted in the People’s Choice categories—Favorite Music Venue, Favorite Radio Station and Artist of the Year. The general public can vote in these categories.

Voting will start Feb. 1, 2011, and end March 19, 2011.

Other important RAMI dates include the following:

Feb. 26, 2011—Youth Charity Jam auditions; applications will be accepted until Jan. 31, 2011, and an application form is available on the RAMI’s website.
