BYRON, Ill.—Byron Museum of History invites you to view the 27 beautifully decorated Christmas trees displayed throughout the museum.

Each tree was provided by businesses and organizations throughout the community for the museum’s annual Festival of Trees, which began Nov. 29. The trees will remain on display through Dec. 22. This year, in addition to the trees, visitors can view an art display. “My Childhood Christmases in Chicago, 1940-1950” is a series of oil paintings by area artist Ray Brod.

Other displays include holiday bells, nostalgic Santas and sleighs, a snowman collection, carved Santas, and a collection of Limited Edition Edna Hibel Christmas plates. These collections were shared through the generosity of several volunteers.

“This year’s trees were some of the most creative, festive and thoughtful that we have seen here in years,” said Jessica McCanse, the museum’s executive director. “With over 700 visitors on our opening night, we were happy that so many people are able to enjoy the festive atmosphere and the community involvement here.”

Trees were judged by a panel of six, and more than 550 votes were cast by visitors voting for their favorite trees. First-place winners will receive $25 and a ribbon, and second-place winners will receive a ribbon.

Following are the winners by category:

Traditional—First place, Byron Chamber of Commerce; second place, By-Y-Badgers 4-H Club

Non-Traditional—First place, United Church of Byron Outreach Committee; second place, St. Mary’s Catholic Church
