Robbery suspect hits fifth area business
The man police say robbed four Rockford businesses at knife-point between Monday, Jan. 3, and Tuesday, Jan. 4, has hit another location.
The fifth robbery happened at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Loves Park Burger King.
Police believe the suspect is the same man who was captured in surveillance photos from previous incidents.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s. He is about 5 feet, 8 inches with a stocky build and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, as seen in security camera photographs.
Police say the same man also robbed Walgreens, 3800 Auburn St.; Road Ranger, 5330 block of East State Street.; Burger King, 909 W. Riverside Blvd.; and Burger King, 2434 11th St.
The suspect has fled on foot with undetermined amounts of cash in each of the holdups.
No injuries have been reported, however, police spokesmen believe the suspect may continue the spree until he gets caught and may become desperate if confronted.
Police are urging businesses to remain on high alert and inspect alarms and security cameras to ensure equipment is in working order.
Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is urged to call the City of Rockford Police Department at (815) 987-5824 or Crime Stoppers at (815) 987-5863.
