Two people have been arrested after an area cannabis operation raid this week, police said Thursday, Jan. 6.

While serving a search warrant at a home on the 1800 block of Will James Road in New Milford, investigators from the State Line Area Narcotics Team and Drug Enforcement Agency uncovered  several marijuana plants, guns and an undetermined amount of cash.

Thirty-five-year-old Joseph T. Sutherland and  Amanda J. Sacrider, 28, were arrested on multiple charges including possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, manufacturing cannabis and obstructing justice.

Police said Sutherland attempted to destroy evidence before and during the search of the home.

As of press time, Sutherland and Sacrider were lodged in the Winnebago County Justice Center. It is not known if either suspect has an attorney or when they are scheduled to appear in court.

According to Illinois law, possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver and manufacturing cannabis are violations of the state’s Controlled Substances Act.
