Local author premieres children’s book at Crimson Ridge Jan. 29
From press release
Locally-known author Sandi Adams will launch the third book of her Kajsa series at Crimson Ridge at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 29. The event will feature storytime with Adams, coloring time for the children, light refreshments and an opportunity for parents to shop.
Adams spent 40 years as a registered nurse in Rockford. Her first book, Kajsa in the Middle, was designed to compliment her granddaughter when she couldn’t find gifts to celebrate Kajsa’s lovely Swedish name. Adams received such a great response, she decided to turn Kajsa books into a series.
The second book is called Watch What You Wish. The third book, which is being released this month, is Kajsa: Big Girl or Little Girl?.
Crawling into Kajsa’s psyche to write the first book sensitized Adams. She began to wonder about children of all ages who might be carrying an unnecessary weight of misperceptions and insecurities into their adult lives. Rather than tell a story just to entertain, why not let Kajsa have a voice that might bring insight and even healing to others? With childlike transparency, Kajsa asks the questions for all of us: “Am I of value?! Am I enough?!”
Adams says: “My hope is that by using simplicity and humor, and at times even a child’s words, all my books are able to touch a nerve. Look in the pages and see a reflection of yourself. Realize that you were planted right where you belong so you could grow into all you were designed to become. I knew retirement would not be boring, but now that I have lifted the lid on this new passion, I see it offers me another avenue to pursue my personal philosophy of making a difference … one at a time.”
Crimson Ridge is at 735 N. Perryville Road. Grade school and preschool children are invited with their families. The event is free, and Adams’ books will be available to purchase. Reservations are strongly recommended by calling (815) 399-9000.
