Turtle Creek Corridor hosts public input session Jan. 18

Turtle Creek Corridor “Connections”—A Redevelopment Opportunity will host a public input session from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the library of South Beloit High School, 245 Prairie Hill Road, South Beloit.
Beloit 2020, in collaboration with the City of South Beloit, the City of Beloit (Wis.) and The Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation, seeks to build upon past successes along the stateline by conducting a detailed and focused planning effort for a “Connections Corridor” centered on the confluence of the Rock River and Turtle Creek corridor in South Beloit.
The project study area includes lands in Beloit and South Beloit, extending from Bluff Street on the west to Highway 51/251 on the east, Gardner Street on the south and Broad Street on the north.
As the southern portal to Beloit and South Beloit’s City Center, this corridor is a gateway, recreation resource and redevelopment opportunity that will enhance the quality of life in the greater Beloit area.
The purpose of this meeting is to engage business owners, property owners, residents and public officials with a stake in the future vitality of this mutually critical community gateway in a discussion of a long-term vision for the project study area. This facilitated discussion will focus on the study area’s core assets, opportunities and challenges that future plans and implementation strategies will need to address.
A second meeting will be held Feb. 2 at the South Beloit High School to craft land use, design and transportation recommendations for the study area.
