Local family wins trip to CoCo Key in Orlando

When Julene Hull brought her family to CoCo Key Water Resort Monday, Jan. 17, to enjoy the school holiday, she had no idea she’d be leaving with the CoCo Key Fourth Anniversary Celebration Grand Prize: a trip to CoCo Key in Orlando, Fla.

“When we saw our name on the list of finalists, we were so excited, but I never dreamed I’d win,” said Julene. “We’re not sure yet when we’ll take our trip, but we are so thrilled to have won.”

Hull was among 10 finalists who were chosen by random drawing from more than 250 entries in the Allegiant Paper Plane Contest at CoCo Key Jan. 17. Each of the 10 finalists had to make a paper airplane and launch it from the top of the water slide tower at a target nearly 40 feet below. Hull’s plane landed less than 2 feet from the target, making her the winner of the contest.

The prize for the Allegiant Paper Plane Contest includes round-trip air fare for four to Orlando on Allegiant Air and a two-night stay for four at the CoCo Key Water Resort in Orlando.

The contest was only part of the festivities at the indoor water park Monday. The day began with $4 admission for the first 204 guests. Guests also enjoyed $4 hamburger and hot dog baskets, $5 arcade cards for just $4, and there were door prizes given away every hour, including overnight stays, annual passes and free water park admission.

“We wanted to celebrate CoCo Key’s anniversary by thanking Rockford for four great years,” Mohr said. “We couldn’t think of a better way to say thank you than with great savings and gallons of fun.”
