The Clock Tower Resort, one of Rockford’s most visible hotels and convention centers, is up for auction.
According to a listing on the Web site, Auctions.com, the 21.41-acre facility has a starting bid of $2.9 million.
Bidding on the property will begin February 17.
Marketing Manager Matt Mohr said the auction is not expected to disrupt current or future operations.
“It’s business as usual here,” Mohr said. “We have events planned into March and the rest of the year. We have Bears Blitz coming up and the Irish Marching Society is having its annual St. Patrick’s Day event here.”
A Best Western hotel, The Clock Tower is owned by a group of private investors. It is not known why the group has decided to sell the building, however, a change of ownership has not been unusual in its 45-year history.
“We’ve had other owners before,” Mohr said.
The Clock Tower Resort was built in 1966. It houses CoCo Key indoor water park, Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, 30,000 square-feet of convention space, tennis club and a handful of retail businesses.
More information about the Clock Tower can be found on its Web site.
