Are you 50+ years old and looking to get into shape, but haven’t worked out in a while? The Rock Valley College Center for Learning in Retirement (CLR) has a solution to your fitness concerns: Golden Eagles LITE Fitness Program.
RVC’s Division of Fitness, Wellness and Sport identified a need for an introductory fitness program, designed for folks age 50 or older who meet the following criteria: “beginner” exercisers; those who have not exercised in a while; or those who have recently completed a rehabilitation program. Classes are led by trained instructors in small groups and focus on the development of strength, flexibility, balance and cardiovascular fitness.
“This program is an incredible opportunity for seniors to begin a fitness program under professional supervision,” says Tammy Lewis, CLR program director. “At only $50 for the 10-week session, Golden Eagles LITE is also a great value!”
Classes are an hour long and held two times a week for 10 weeks, the winter session running from Feb. 1 through April 7. For safety, new participants must complete a comprehensive fitness assessment prior to beginning this program, including medical/health screening and program orientation. The Golden Eagles LITE program meets in the newly-renovated Physical Education Center (PEC) on the Rock Valley College main campus.
