Beginning Feb. 1, the OSF Saint Anthony Center for Health Fitness will be adding to and adjusting the schedule of its group fitness classes. The fee for any of the classes remains $5 for an all-day pass to attend any or all of the classes offered that day, or $25 per month to attend an unlimited number of classes.
Yoga, an all-level gentle yoga class, is being introduced Feb. 1. Classes will be offered from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class helps participants increase flexibility and balance while relieving stress and promoting relaxation.
Tai Chi will be introduced Tuesday, Feb. 1, and will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class consists of a series of slow, graceful, circular movements that enhances strength, endurance and balance. People of all ages and abilities can improve their flexibility, decrease their stress and help make daily activities easier.
Zumba, which fuses easy-to-follow moves with Latin rhythms to create a dynamic fitness program, will be introduced Tuesday, Feb. 1. Held from 6 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays, the classes teach routines that include interval training with fast and slow rhythms. Resistance training and Latin zest are combined to tone and sculpt while burning fat.
“Have a Ball” is a new class that will be held from 4 to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, beginning Feb. 4. Using a stability ball, participants can increase their core strength and balance.
“Loosen Up,” a 30-minute full-body session designed to release muscle tension through stretching and flexibility movements, is offered from 10:30 to 11:10 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Loosen Up is also held from 4:35 to 5:05 p.m. on Fridays.
Body Pump, a class that combines cardio and strength training for a total body workout, is offered from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. It is also held from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturdays. With music in the background, the class incorporates the use of barbell weights and is designed for men and women at any fitness level.
A Mini Body Pump session is offered from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Circuit Training, a 45-minute class that combines cardio and strength training for a total body workout, is held from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class rotates between stations for maximum effort and calorie burning.
Middle Management, a hard-core strengthening session that concentrates on the torso to strengthen the abdomen and back, is offered from 5:30 to 5:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Golden Motion classes, which are geared towards those age 50 or older, are held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first part of the class offers cardio workouts with the treadmill or bike individual gym time on the treadmill, bike or Nu-step, and the second part is an instructor-led class for upper and lower body weight training, core work, balance and flexibility.
Senior Aerobics classes are held from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The low-impact aerobics class offers easy-to-follow moves, beginning with chair aerobics and ending with standing low-impact moves. Registration for this class is limited to 20.
