It is hard to believe that 11 years have passed since my husband John, my son Scott and I were told I had breast cancer.
Here is a condensed recap of that day and the days that followed.
For three years, I had felt a lump in my right breast. Every year, I would have my routine mammogram, and nothing would show up. Every year, I shared with my female medical doctor that I felt a lump in my right breast and would ask for an ultrasound, but she said this was not necessary. I would remind her that my mother died of cancer, her two sisters died of cancer, her brother died of cancer, and my cousin died of cancer. This was never a red flag for her, and I was told an ultrasound was not necessary.
Three years later, I had my routine mammogram, and again stated I was feeling a lump on my right breast. Within a week of that mammogram, I received a call from my doctor’s office. I was told they saw something on my mammogram and that I needed to go to the hospital to have what she called a “super duper mammogram.” A week after the super duper mammogram, I received a phone call that stated the super duper mammogram saw something and I had to return for a biopsy.
(Now that it has been 11 years since this whole fiasco is done, I can see the ridiculous humor in the rest of the story.)
When my husband, John, and I returned to obtain the results from the doctor, the nurse met me, took my hand, shook her head and told me she was so sorry, that I had the big “C.” She then placed John and me in a room and informed us the doctor on staff for that day would be in to talk to me.
The doctor walked in, was so sad-looking, and shook his head and told me he was so sorry, but I had the big “C.” My husband looked at me and asked, “What is the big ‘C’.” I said to my husband, “John, I know what it is, but I want to hear him say it.” Believe me when I tell you that never once did the doctor or his nurse ever use the word “cancer.” They had the audacity to call it the big “C?”
Medically, the story continues on its downward path. The suggestion from the doctor was chemical therapy. My immune system was already suppressed with the breast cancer, and now they wanted me to add chemical therapy and radiation to my body?! I knew chemical therapy’s main ingredient was mustard gas. Mustard gas is what they used in World War I. I recalled my mother’s radiation treatment to her breast area—they burned her lung! At this point, I was thinking that I was grateful for my naturopathic doctorates that I received earlier that year, and then I heard God in my heart say to me, “Julia, I gave you the education and the tools, now go for it!”
When I informed my oncologist that I would not do his chemical therapy and radiation, he literally threw my file at me and told me I would never see John retire or see my son Scott graduate. This temper tantrum the medical oncologist displayed was done in front of my husband and my son, who was 15 years old at the time. What a professional! Needless to say, the childish oncologist did not receive a chemical paycheck from me. Cancer never scared me, but what infuriated me was how I was treated when I told the oncologist I would not administer his treatments to my already worn-out body.
I really should write a book about my story. The human body can heal if it knows what to do. Let’s look at the systems of our body. In my opinion, our main body system is the immune system. This is the garbage system. I believe the immune system is our sixth sense. It recognizes viruses and bacteria the brain does not identify. It then converts the information into hormones that go to the brain to activate the immune process.
The immune system works in partnership with other body systems. For example, the skin forms a barrier against foreign material while the respiratory system utilizes cilia, mucus and coughing to rid the body of inhaled microbes and pollutants.
In addition, acid in the stomach and enzymes in the pancreas and intestines destroy many harmful microorganisms. If foreign materials come into the body, then the immune system begins to operate. This system is composed of lymph nodes, blood proteins, white blood cells plus organs and cells that transport them.
The lymphatic system is your garbage system. The lymphatic system does not have a pump like the heart, so the only way it can operate is by exercising. During any kind of infection, the lymph nodes become enlarged. All of the immune system is designed to react rapidly to disease-producing organisms and their toxins. If the disease gets past these defenses, the body produces a fever, inflammation and other reactions to conquer the unwelcome invader.
As a naturopathic doctor, I was thinking “great, let the immune system do its job.” However, to a medical doctor, they want to stop a fever or give cortisone shots for inflammation.
Every day, our bodies are constantly battling mutant (cancer) cells. With this in mind, it is very important to keep our immune system healthy. Did you know that 70 percent of your immune system is in the large intestine? That is why I am such a believer in colon hydrotherapy. If our immune system is healthy, our large intestine is healthy. And if our large intestine is healthy, then our immune system is healthy.
Let’s take charge of our own health through healthy eating habits, seasonal colonics, exercise, stress-reducing techniques, fresh air, clean water, sunshine and basic common sense.
I was told 10 months ago that I had lung cancer. I am 82 years old, and have smoked practically my whole life. I had developed a cough and repeatedly went to my medical doctor, and they told me that it was just bacterial infection and gave me massive doses of antibiotics. This then created major yeast issues. At my granddaughter’s persistence, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Julia. We cleaned out the yeast through colonics and removed the vaginal itching. I continued to see my medical doctor for the cough, and they performed more tests. Later, I received a phone call from my medical doctor that I had lung cancer. To this day, I still cannot believe I heard about this over the phone! What compassion my doctor and his nurse have! I was told that I had to do radiation therapy. I then made an appointment with Dr. Julia, and she asked me, “Your lungs are basically burned from years of smoking, and they want you to do what?” Dr. Julia suggested a 24-hour urine analysis. Through this testing, I found out that many of my minerals that feed the lungs were severely depressed. Dr. Julia made a phone call to a medical doctor in Belvidere for me to have IV therapy of vitamin C. Along with this therapy, Dr. Julia had me take a very powerful lymphatic herb. Within 72 hours, my cough stopped. Every day is a gift. I am 82 years old, and I will not see my last days in a hospital bed with my hair falling out and not knowing who is by my bedside. In the 10 months that I was told that I had lung cancer, I have seen my brother in Orlando, gone to Disney, went to Vegas and even won $2,500 on the slots. It is too bad that I am now doing what I want to do just because I was told I would be dead if I did not do their treatments. SHAME ON THEM!
