PECATONICA, Ill.—Pec Playhouse Theatre, 314 Main St., Pecatonica, Ill., presents its 21st season-opener, Fuddy Meers, written by the Pulitzer Prize-winning American playwright and lyricist David Lindsay-Abaire.
The play is about a woman named Claire, who finds she has a rare form of amnesia that erases her memory whenever she goes to sleep and has to rediscover her life each day. Surrounding her is a curious assortment of bizarre characters who prove no communication is successful.
One character, an obnoxious, foul-mouthed hand puppet, Hinky-Binky, has no problem speaking openly as the play’s major truth-teller.
Fuddy Meers is a comedy/mystery/drama about family, memory and the futility of communication. The play is one harrowing and hilarious turn after another on a roller-coaster ride through the day of an amnesiac trying to decipher her fractured life. This show is not suitable for children.
Director Laura Wiegert and her cast have put together a very entertaining evening. Performances are Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., Feb. 11-27.
