PAWS Humane Society’s Third Annual Fur Ball dinner dance fund-raising gala is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 12, at Giovanni’s, 610 N. Bell School Road, Rockford. More than 300 animal lovers have registered for this event.
Cocktails start at 6:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 7:30 p.m. A live auction will ensue at 8 p.m., with autographed memorabilia such as Fender Squier guitars signed by The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith, and an autographed photo of five ex-presidents.
Silent auction, live auction, raffle and dancing will fill out the evening.
“This is our biggest fund-raiser of the year, and each year it gets better and better,” said Fur Ball Chairman Luan Dean. “All proceeds help benefit PAWS Humane Society, which is a great organization that helps a lot of animals in our area.”
PAWS Humane Society is a local non-profit animal group that does not have a shelter and is often confused with Winnebago County Animal Services. The main focus of the group is spay/neuter assistance, humane education to the public and schools, and also emergency animal welfare relief. The group receives no government or local county funding, but works merely on donations and the efforts of their own fund-raising.
