Rockford man arrested for growing cannabis in his home

Feb. 4, the State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT), in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Rockford Police Department, arrested a Rockford resident for growing cannabis in his home.
SLANT agents, DEA task force officers and Rockford detectives executed a search warrant on a residence in the 5000 block of Newburg Road, in Rockford. Seized as a result of the search were 151 cannabis plants, 469 grams of processed cannabis, $992 and all the necessary equipment used in an indoor cannabis-growing operation.
Justin T. Durcholz, 27, of the 5000 block of Newburg Road, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful manufacture of cannabis sativa plants.
Durcholz was incarcerated at the Winnebago County Jail.
These charges are only an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
SLANT is composed of officers from the Freeport, Loves Park, Rockford and Monroe, Wis., police departments, the Stephenson County and Green County, Wis., sheriff’s departments and the Illinois State Police.
