Rockford attorney announces run for school board seat
By Jim Hagerty
A Rockford attorney announced his candidacy for a seat on the Rockford Board of Education Tuesday, Feb. 15.
Tim Rollins is vying to represent Sub-District B, the board position now held by Jeanne Westholder.
At Tuesday’s press conference inside the Rockkford Art Museum, Rollins told reporters District 205 needs several improvements, most notably in the area of communication. He said the district needs to work harder to make more information available to the public.
By doing so, the attorney said, taxpayers will have more information at their disposal in order to make informed decisions.
Rollins is a partner at WilliamsMcCarthy, LLP in Rockford. He earned a B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1982, is a 1985 graduate of Harvard Law School and served four years in the U.S. Army.
He is a member of the Dean’s Council of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford and is a director of the Rock Valley College Foundation.
Rollins is a past President of the Discovery Center Board, and served as a director for the Rockford Area Arts Council.
Three of his five children are District 205 graduates.
The school board election is Tuesday, April 5th.
