Just say ‘YES’ to Black History Month Feb. 21

From press release

Sounds Of Good News Productions will present their annual “Lift Every Voice & Sing” community musical celebration of African-American History Month from 1-3 p.m. on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 21, at St. Paul Lutheran School Gymnasium, 811 Locust St., at Kilburn Avenue, Rockford.

Door donations are $5 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens; children 12 years and younger are admitted free. This event will benefit the spring CD/DVD recording projects for “Young Eagles Success” (YES) Club of character development and excellence for kids. The program is under the leadership of Carl and Dianna Cole, and there will be a new CD single release by the Young Eagles Soaring Inspirational Choir.

A special Music Showcase Tribute to Black History will be a highlight of the afternoon, featuring Lutheran High School Coach Jermaine D. Robinson. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy music, “COLE” facts, fun and food, closing with a video clip of the last minutes of Dr. King’s final speech, “I’ve Been to the Mountain Top” the day before he was assassinated.

The celebration is co-sponsored by St. Paul Lutheran Church. For more information, call Dianna Cole at (815) 519-7071 or e-mail MsCSOGN@aol.com. Don’t miss it!
