Ok, as a community we must start somewhere? This is what I am doing, as of Jan. I stopped paying my mortgage, no more escrow going in for property tax ( $1705.00 ) for dist. 205. I have no problem with the 1st installment going for the city!! We must make a stand right now! We the people have forgotten about protest, what's wrong with us? We need to unite, not just sit back. This corruption taking place is making me sick, how about you? Enough is enough! Drive around this city of Rockford, it's disgusting and falling apart! And what's the mayor have to say? Do we even have a mayor? a leader? Rockford is very sick. How sad. Sheffield always talks about race problems, but bought a home off of springbrook road thanks to the tax payers, unreal! Race, race, race, wonder what was wrong with neighborhoods on the westside sheffield? Your people, right? I sure do wish I could afford a home in the Guilford H.S area, must be nice. I love the west side, grew up here, have a home here for now, i'm white by the way. So, mayor, council people, board people, and sheffield you can stick your racism card up your you know what, while your living high on the taxpayer in your clean, nice majority white subdivisions, while the schools and the inner city is crumbling under our feet! Corruption, greed, drugs, alcohol and sexual immorallity, way to go Rockford officials!! And Rockford citizens keep voting em back in, wow! I can't wait until my home is foreclosed and I get the hell out of here finally.

This just proves in my mind that an audit of all expenses from the last year and a half need to be looked at. Where did our tax dollars go and who ultimately was responsible for the spending of that money? Was the money used wisely or was it spent frivolously? We need to know the answers to these questions. By looking at spending patterns from the past we should be able to make better spending choices in the future. If only 3 areas of concern produced this much discrepancy, then we must know what the rest of the budget has to also say. If Lewis can't do a better job of projecting more accurately on a proposed budget then maybe he isn't the right person for the job. If in the larger picture he had been off by only a couple of million then I would have said that he erred on the side of caution and was being conservative in his budgeting. To be off by $22,000,000.00 in just 3 areas of concern shows that something fishy is being done down at the administration building. If the REA had not pushed to get this budget proposal looked at more closely, just how was the administration going to justify to the public next year after making such huge cuts that no all of the sudden they have lots and lots of money? Maybe we need to start looking for a new superintendent and allow Sheffield, Lewis, Cyrus, Stevenson-Olson, and the rest of the "cabinet" to start putting their own portfolios together for their next employers. I see a job fair in their collective futures.
